about the author

THIS BOOK IS DEDICATED TO
MY TEACHER HARISH JOHARI :

Harish Johari (1934-1999) was a distinguished North Indian author, tantric scholar, poet, musician, composer, artist, and gemologist who held degrees in philosophy and literature and made it his life's work to introduce the spirituality of his homeland to the West. He authored twelve books on a wide range of related subjects, including Chakras, Tools for Tantra, Ayurvedic Healing Cuisine, Dhanwantari, and The Yoga of Snakes and Arrows. He also produced meditative audiorecordings, among them The Sounds of Tantra, The Sounds of the Chakras, and Meditation Music for Dawn and Dusk.

I have dedicated this book to my teacher Harish Johari to thank him for guiding me to this time and this state of mind. If there is any true author of this book, then it is he. The truth this book carries is the product of a long lineage of teachers that is truly sanatan, original, eternal, and universal. My name is on the cover only because of the responsibility I bear for any errors in it and for these I offer my humble apologies to the teachers.

I AM SOMETIMES CALLED THE AUTHOR,
SOMETIMES PETER MARCHAND.

I was born in 1963 in Belgium and studied philosophy, communication sciences, and environmental engineering. I became a student of Harish Johari in 1983 and organized some of his workshops. Today I am one of the main founders of Sanatan Society, a networking organization of family and students of Harish Johari. I regularly visit teachers in India and also teach rasa sadhana and jnana yoga in India , Europe , the United States , and Canada . I also wrote "The Yoga of the Nine Emotions - the Tantric Practice of Rasa Sadhana", published in 2006 by Destiny Books (see www.rasas.info ).

The book "The Yoga of Truth" started as just a few pages that I wanted to write on the subject of jnana yoga, the yoga of true knowledge. Surprisingly, the pages kept coming. Afterward, when I read them myself, they appeared as new. They are not mine. There is nothing new here. Everything I wrote has been written before. Perhaps it is an expression that suits this moment in time, that may suit some people of this time. It brought me so much happiness to write it - maybe some of that joy will also come to those who read it. I can hope for that.
